The Scenic Route.

I once chose to take the "scenic route" instead of the interstate from Orlando, FL, to Gulf Shores, AL. It was an epic disaster. (I may have a mild stroke, as I just realized that that trip will have been 11 years ago in February!) What should have taken roughly seven hours ended up taking 12. It's a story that those of us in the vehicle still tell, partly with humor and partly as a warning. However, if you see one of these signs, follow it. Alabama has done a very good job designating scenic byways.

Never mind the odor, the fact that this sign is necessary makes me nauseated....

Really? There's a few billion other folks on the planet who probably beg to differ....

I wonder how often folks outside the South have to worry about encountering both of these reptiles while out on a stroll? Not a hike through the wilderness, mind you. Just a simple, around-the-neighborhood stroll......
